The inauguration ceremony was attended by Politburo member and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.
The terminal is located in an area surrounded by several industrial parks in the city and the neighboring provinces of Binh Duong and Dong Nai. It will help reduce overloading at Cat Lai Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2.
The first 20-hectare phase of the port terminal project, which commenced construction in 2010, is able to handle vessels of up to 35,000 DWT.

Currently, ITC is on half way of completion for the construction of the second phase which will see the terminal expand to 48 hectares. Its main quay will end up with 1,000m in length and designed to handle 2 million twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs) per year.
It is the first terminal to be invested in by a private firm in Vietnam.
Vietnam is looking to build a network of port terminals to take advantage of its long coastline and serve the import and export operations of its growing economy.
SP-ITC is also the first private terminal put many state-of-the-art equipment and facility in operation, such as Kocks Rubber Tired Gantry from Germany which can do the lifting of 40 tons and the reaching scale of 13 container rows. In addition, Kalmar also equipped at the terminal.
All such equipments operated under diesel and electricity, therefore they’re absolutely environmentally- friendly and economic as using.
SP-ITC owns a ideal location. The terminal is alongside with Dong Nai River. It is surrounded by a system of key routes: Ha Noi Highway, Long Thanh- Dau Giay Express Way, Belt Road No.2, Phu My Bridge for Mekong Delta connection …therefore, there is no traffic jam for wholetime.
With such strategic location, SP-ITC is expected to be the ideal destination for busines in the South of Vietnam and the good solution to solve the congestion chronic problem in Cat Lai Port area.
